Scientific American editorial just said that used nuclear fuel is more dangerous than the Chernobyl accident. I don't see that when I compare deaths due to :
- used nuclear fuel (worldwide) = none I know of
- radiation at Chernobyl = 50 to 60
- forced evacuation at Chernobyl = hundreds to thousands
